Fire Fatalities are smoke fatalities!

Smoke is toxic; it blinds the persons fleeing, leads to panic reactions, and complicates and delays the rescue and Fire Fighting efforts of the Fire Brigade. At the same time, the smoke naturally also causes considerable share of the material damage.

This danger is best met by evacuation of the Fire Smoke into the open by using Automatic Natural Smoke Vent Systems

Thus a lot of precious human lives could be saved.

SMOKE AND HEAT VENT SYSTEMS

Allow the smoke & heat to vent through by opening the windows (normally closed) M/s. D+H Mechatronics Germany are leading manufacturers of these systems and have a wide network throughout the world. We as their Indian Distributors are looking forward to these systems being provided in Indian market.

The main purpose of this system is to:

  • Protect human life More than 80% of fire disasters result in death of occupants of the building because of smoke inhalation.
  • Protect the structure of the building from the build-up of toxic fumes and excessive heat.
  • Enable the Fire Brigade to pin -point the location of the fire without being encumbered by the smoke and toxic fumes.

SPECIFICATIONS

The actuators are activated by break glass push buttons; smoke or thermal detectors and the whole system can be easily linked to an existing fire alarm panel. The control panel is equipped with a 72-hour battery back-up system to ensure the supply of 24V DC to the actuators even in the event of mains power failure. This panel is available in different sizes and can be individually designed to customer specifications to operate from one up to 120 actuators. The actuators are all equipped with special silicon cable and are tested under fire operating conditions for at least 30 minutes at 370 o before delivery acct. to DIN ISO 9001.

In the event of Fire, the actuators provided on the windows, on getting a signal from Fire/Smoke detector automatically or manually, open all the windows to enable Smoke & Toxic fumes to escape into the atmosphere and thus smoke ventilation is achieved.

In addition to smoke ventilation, the D + H system can be upgraded to include day to day natural ventilation. This is achieved by incorporating manual vent switches, wind/rain sensors and thermostats to enable windows and vents to open either manually or automatically to release stale air and allow fresh air to enter the building. This system is an extremely cost effective alternative to expensive air-conditioning units, which incur both a high degree of running and maintenance expenses.

All D + H natural ventilation systems have the ability to be directly linked to an existing Building Management System allowing complete control of the building environment from a central location.

IS: 1642, 1989 and Amendment No. 3 to National Building Code of India 1983 (SP 7: 1983 part IV) printed in January 1997 provide the details of the provision of Automatic Smoke & Heat Vent Systems.
